Musicland: When the Music Came to Byron 1970–1995
captures a defining chapter in Byron Bay’s cultural history, tracing the musicians, venues, promoters and personalities who helped transform a small coastal town into one of Australia’s most influential music destinations.

Jane Fender worked closely with author and social historian Tricia Shantz to bring the project to life. We designed the book, balancing its extensive collection of stories and archival imagery with clarity, energy and period character. We also designed and developed the Musicland website, creating a cohesive digital home for the book, its history and launch.

The result is a distinctive publishing project that feels both deeply local and culturally significant, preserving the people and moments that shaped Byron Bay’s celebrated music scene.
